An ongoing collection of questions submitted to Connett by visitors to this Museum. = home = If
you have any other questions that you would like answered Q: Where do you get your ideas? A: From being bombarded by chaotic and idiotic energy which is constantly screaming in my face. (I have no idea really ... Click Here) Q: Did you go to Art school? A: No. Q:when did u start painting? A: Started painting at the age of 29. I have always drawn. Q: What kind of art mediums do you use? A: In the museum exhibitions of my work you will see paintings done in water color and gouache, also some done in acrylics. Many have airbrushing as well as standard paint brushing. The drawings are mostly all done with the kind of ball point pens you will find laying around in most homes. I also use radidograph pens. Q: Has music ever influenced your art? If so, what kind of music do you listen to? Or did you grow up listening to....? A: Many kinds of course ... I prefer noise or electronic musics, ones with varied and radically divergent sounds, as they stimulate my imagination more than musics with more overt focus like rock or Metal. I like those also, ( a lot!), when I'm in the mood ... But the most creatively stimulating music for me is categorized as 'noise' or 'experimental' music. Q: Where do you live? A: Los Angels, California, USA ... In the hills overlooking the city ... here Q: Do you have a job other than working on your art? A: Yes. Q: What is the extent of your education? A: High School drop out ... Obtained a G.E.D. equivalency diploma in 1969. Q: Do you think an education is important. A: Yes. Educated people are to uneducated ones almost as the living are to the dead. However, Education is not enough. You must also do your best to understand people. There is the education of the schools and the education of the streets. One should be a dedicated pupil of both. Q: What do you look like? A: Click here to see Connett in the year 2001. A: Born; 08/19/1951 Q: Where were you born? A: San Francisco, California, USA Q: Are you married? A: Yes. (Connett's wife) Q: Many of the paintings are listed as being 'burned'. How did that happen? A: Click here to find out. Q:what were you like as an adolescent? A: Ridiculous ... blind ... thought I was wise, but was not. Ignorant ... unfeeling ... took drugs ... angry ... depressed ... foolish ... underestimated or overestimated almost everything ... Typical, a child yearning to be an adult, unable to accept that I was not, so I rebelled against anyone and anything that represented authority or the truth that I did not want to believe ... Typical asshole teenager ... Perhaps worse than most. ... Lots of zits Q: Do you take drugs or drink alcohol? A: I drink alcohol and occasionally smoke marijuana. I try not to do these things excessively. In the past I have taken drugs and alcohol to excess ... This has very nearly been my downfall ... click here for more on this. Q: Do you think it's OK to take drugs or drink alcohol? A: For some it's OK ... For others, it is not. Q: Do you create artwork when you are high or drunk? A: Never. Anything I have created under the influence of drugs or alcohol is a joke. Q: Are you a homosexual? A: No. Q: Are you a sadist? A: No. Q: Do you worship Satan? A: No. Q: Can I use your artwork on my site? A: Yes, However, I want you to link back to my site and give me some sort of credit for the artwork. Click Here to get some banners that you can use to link back to the Museum. Also, If you are an e-commerce site and making money I will expect fair compensation based upon the contribution that my work makes for your success. Write me if you are not sure. All original works of art in this museum are © R.S. Connett. Q: Is it OK for me to download your drawings and paintings for my personal use? A: Yes, I want people to see my art works. Dissemination of my art is my #1 goal. However, I also need to make money so I can go on creating more art. This is why I sell prints and originals. The prints I sell are much higher quality than what you can download directly from the site. They look great framed. If you can afford them, and you think you can 'live' with my art on your wall, I want you to buy them. Think of all the money that you spend on hyped fad items which you have been manipulated into buying by corporate power mongers who don't give a fuck about anything but the money they need to finance their shallow lives! Show some support for something real! ... Support outsider art! ... Support ME! Q: Can I use your artwork on my bands CD or record cover? A: Possibly. I know that there are a lot of great talents out there that should be heard. One great way to get attention to your work is to have some great cover art. I have provided artwork for several musicians. Click Here to see the covers I've done. I don't do it for nothing but I am flexible in what I charge. If you are a band signed to a major record label you can expect to be charged along the same lines which I charge for my original paintings. If you are doing everything yourself then I will try to work with you on the cost. It's easier for me if you choose a preexisting image and do the layouts yourself. That will be less expensive than having me do the layout work. If you are interested in talking to me about it send me an e-mail by clicking here. Q: Would you do an original piece of art for me based upon my idea? A: NO ... I HAD to make a deal with myself many years ago about my art. My art belongs to me ... No one else. I do not take commercial jobs I don't feel excited about ... I do not do requests ... I do not take suggestions or ideas. While this is not conducive with a monetarily successful 'art career' ... it does keep my art honest. If you want to read more, Click Here. Q: Do you ever show the work of other artists in the Vomitus Maximus Museum? A: Not yet. However, It's my wish to begin showcasing the work of other artists in the future. I have been fortunate in being able to attract many visitors per day to the Museum. At this time I receive an average of 1,000 individual visitors per day from all over the world. I would like to begin showing the works of other talented artists who's work is kindred to mine ... work that would add to what the Museum is evolving into. I will build special exhibition pages for those artists who would wish to participate and link off to their websites if they have one. I would also offer to sell their works through my existing merchant account and secure store. For artists who are interested in submitting their work for consideration please send me the location, (URL), where I can see your work to 'connett@znet.com'. If you do not have your work online you can send me scanned work as .JPG or .GIF attachments to your e-mail, HOWEVER, be SURE that your images are small, under 35KB each, and do not attach any more than 250KB to any one e-mail.
