Hi
Connett,
I read your last statement entry, and yet i feel like i can die happy
from now on. People that feel like you usually turn to meditation
or go see shrinks, at least you don't take these paths, you take the
lessons in the face without evading, at least when you are wholesome.
You slip in periods of downfall and come back more aware of all the
vicious circle nonsense. I am not your age i will be 25 years old
next month and surely can't talk for you, but i learned for sure
one thing: boredom of life comes from finite interests, the available
activities imposed to the democratic city's individual (i prefer mind
slaves) leave a sense of void that needs a refill with the same or
another of the finite material or thought. Religion prepares one for
death, your painting sustains your mind health, but when you are too
old to paint, that you become dead before your heart stops, can religion
alone sustain you? I hope so, because you are a good man deep down,
an imperf! ect human being in the 'standards', lied to and abused
because of your need for something greater, humility and honesty.
All this time i studied, i was taught that in this world, honesty
is interpreted as a weakness of character, that you can count
on nothing but yourself, AND IN THE END these principles, judged acceptable
by people who dare judge good or bad, lead to a very large community
of people who cast away the elederly in retiring homes, their own
blood. So, it is a single example, enough for me to find ways to depart
from the pressure FORCED in our minds at early ages as much as
it is hard to let go of the feeling of responsiblity, that is if serving
the wealthy corrupted fools is responsibility, the feeling
of obligation. The only way is to shift so as to have a foot in the
'dirt' social pool and another more often in a clear water one. We
live once, they control us because they have what we need, we shift
our needs and our dependance is lessen! ed, yes it is possible to
live in the city and almost never panick or feel the stress of life,
even in urgent times, when i touch rock bottom and know that i can
have a sane mind, i am am more immune to the fear that drives us all,
the fear of depending on others, because these others are not pure
altruists, they will think twice before accepting. The life that sucks
is our occidental life, many countries are far poorer but poverty
raises and sticks to the fundamental principles of sharing. When the
planet runs out of natural resources, it is us, the industrial countries
accustomed to frozen foods and instant service, that will be suffering
the most. People like you fit the Earth Connett, it is the place,
the continent you live on that does not fit you. I am making
serious plans to travel around the world and do mostly so on walk.
I plan on going to Africa with my spouse and walk through all the
continent from north to south without cars and minimum hotels.
I am used to the wild already, so it should be worth my while. We
n! orth americans die the most of heart disease, cancer, diabetes,
all signs point to a sick people, a weakened people, like a plant
growing in a dusty indoors. I wish you find ways to make do with your
conscience of aging and death.

RESPONSE;
Hi
- I wish you good luck in your travels to come! I appreciate your
words and they made me think. I will probably not be walking around
the continents however, I may yet find peace in this life, if not,
then perhaps at least perfect the ways that I live each day.
